Our newest member of the team, Erin, joins us as a junior designer having recently graduated from Solent University with a BA (Hons) in Interior Design Decoration.
We caught up with Erin to welcome her to Vesta and to chat about where and when her love of interiors began and her favourite thing about being a designer.
What sparked your love for all things interiors?
My passion for interior design began as a teenager. One of my earliest recollections of design is entering my friend's bedroom and completely reimagining the space.
I've always been a creative person and whilst I was studying for my UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design at Henley College I had the opportunity to design a summer house for an "All Saints" store. Working on that project made me realise I wanted to work in interior design.
What experience did your degree give you?
My degree gave me experience and knowledge in everything from how to create commercial and domestic spatial designs and bespoke surface designs to interior styling.
One of my most memorable projects at university was designing two bedrooms and a bathroom, along with complimentary surface designs for Lord Montagu's Beaulieu Estate.
How would you describe your personal design style?
I would describe my style as luxurious and contemporary. I am inspired a lot by nature, and like neutral tones, forms, and textures, and applying them with a modern twist.
What's your favourite thing about being an interior designer?
I love creating bespoke spaces for individuals reflecting their unique style. I also enjoy knowing that they will feel comfortable in the space I have designed and will want to spend their time in it. I also love the creative process of designing spaces from scratch, resourcing beautiful furnishings and accessories, and collating them all together to create a harmonious design.
Seeing the before and after photos of a project is really satisfying and brings a great sense of achievement.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Personally, I find inspiration in both nature and the mundane. I often visit places of great natural beauty, such as wildlife reserves close to me. During university, I would frequently hike around the New Forest with my camera, sampling textures, forms, and tones.
Do you have a favourite Vesta or INVESTA project?
My favourite Vesta project is Prince of Wales Drive, a Berkeley Homes showhome in Battersea. I really love the neutral tones of the living space, and the design of the sofa, bespoke TV unit, and dining space.
And, my favourite INVESTA project so far is The Felter at Bellway's Ebbsfleet Cross development in Kent. I really like the children's room and the living space.
